Minimum wage increases for first time since 2009 in Virginia
There’s a new minimum wage rate in Virginia.
The baseline rate of pay jumped from the federal minimum wage level of $7.25 to $9.50 per hour on Saturday and represents the first increase in the Commonwealth since 2009.
Wages will continue to grow in the state and beginning next January, minimum wage will be at $11 per hour, then at $12 per hour starting in January 2023.
