UPDATE: Funeral services set for Thursday for former Xfinity Series driver Eric McClure

Funeral services have been announced for former Xfinity Series driver and Chilhowie native Eric McClure who died on Sunday.

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon will host the ceremony on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm and a memorial held shortly afterward.

A private graveside service is set for Friday.

McClure raced for 14 seasons and made 288 career starts. He disclosed in 2019 that he was receiving treatment for kidney failure.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers to make a donation for a special fund that will benefit McClure’s seven children.
