Memorial service set for Boone couple killed prior to police standoff
Memorial services are set for a Boone, North Carolina couple killed prior to a police standoff last week that claimed the lives of two Watauga County officers.
The ceremony for George and Michelle Ligon is scheduled for Saturday at Boone United Methodist Church. Investigators said the Ligons were killed by Michelle’s son Isaac Barnes who committed suicide during a 13-hour standoff.
Law enforcement officials said that Isaac had threatened his stepfather with a knife during an altercation earlier in the month.
George worked in management for a pest control company while Michelle was head of public relations for a Boone tourism organization.
