Domtar in talks with Canadian company for possible merger or acquisition

A paper manufacturing company that has plans to repurpose one of its facilities in Kingsport is reportedly in discussion with a Canadian company for a possible acquisition or merger.

Domtar acknowledged that they have been in talks with Paper Excellence out of the British Columbia, but further stated the discussions may or may not result in an agreement.

Domtar laid off over 300 workers last year after it closed its Kingsport mill but plans to repurpose and reopen that facility by 2023 and employ around 150 people.
