Data shows nearly 17 percent of gas stations in Virginia are out of supplies
The impact of Tuesday’s panic buying in the Southeast can be seen by the percentage of fuel outages in various states.
Data compiled by the gasoline watchdog group GasBuddy shows neighboring North Carolina as the hardest hit by the wave of on-edge gas consumers with 27 percent of state stations bone dry.
Virginia ranks third among the Southern states with nearly 17 percent of gas pumps out of commission, prompting a state of emergency from Governor Ralph Northam that will allow more dollars on a state and local level to be used to bank supplies from other providers.
Tennessee has been able to meet demand with only 3 percent of stations reporting empty tanks.
