Courthouse Square in Jonesborough selected for first 225 celebration in Tennessee
Governor Bill Lee announced Friday in Jonesborough a series of Grand Division events later this year to celebrate Tennessee’s 225th year of statehood.
The first event in the state will be at the town’s Washington County Courthouse on June 1 beginning at 6:30 that evening with remarks by Lee followed by a performance by country music legends the Oak Ridge Boys. The gathering is free to the public.
Other state birthday events are planned for that week in Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis.
