Fundraising account created for Norton Police Chief James Lane

An account has been set up for a fundraiser to support Norton Police Chief James Lane as he recovers after being shot during an incident earlier this month.

The Norton Police Department posted to its social media that anyone interested in helping can send donations to First Bank & Trust Company.

Ballad Health also announced they would match the total amount raised during the fundraising period. Chief Lane was discharged from the hospital last week after being shot while responding to a shoplifting call on May 7.

The man accused of shooting him, James Buckland, is facing several charges including attempted capital murder.
