Sheriff’s Office: Blountville man transmitted child porn images using Snapchat and Instagram

A Blountville, Tennessee man confessed to uploading child porn via the internet when Sullivan County officers arrived at his home on Muddy Creek Road Thursday morning.

A statement from Sheriff Jeff Cassidy’s office said Donald Wayne Sherfey, Jr., 28, is charged with one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted county officials about the illegal downloads. Detectives were able to trace the IP address of Sherfey’s computer and determine that he was transmitting the pornography using Snapchat and Instagram. The report also said Sherfey included his date of birth on the accounts.
