UPDATE: Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting at Exit 10 motel in Bristol, Virginia

Sheriff Blake Andis has confirmed a suspect shot by police officers Thursday morning at a Bristol, Virginia motel in the Exit 10 area has died.

Washington County deputies were called to the Economy Inn on Lee Highway just after 10 am to assist Bristol police in a situation involving a male suspect who reportedly had a protective order taken out against him.

Major Scott Snapp said the suspect had a gun in his room at the time of the incident that is now being investigated by the Virginia State Police.

Snapp noted that the situation was isolated and there is no longer a threat to the public.
