UPDATE: Case of missing Buchanan County man still open

It’s been over a month since a Southwest Virginia resident was seen by family.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the disappearance of William Arthur Cole, Jr., 76, is still under investigation.

Cole was reportedly going for a walk in the woods near his home in the Chicken Ridge community of Jewell Ridge.

Cole had already been gone a week and a half when he was reported missing on April 19. The next day county experts and the Virginia State Police completed a search by foot and in the air using a drone and helicopter with no discovery.

Anyone with information about Cole’s location can call the Sheriff’s Office or the State Police.
