UPDATE: UAW workers at Pulaski’s Volvo Trucks plant reject contract, go back on strike
The United Auto Workers have informed officials with Volvo that a majority of employees at their plant in Southwest Virginia have gone on strike once again after a rejection of a contract offer on Sunday.
The walkout is the recent chapter in a five-month standoff between the Sweden-based company and the workers at the Volvo Trucks North America plant in Pulaski.
The union of 2,900 members voted last month to accept a tentative agreement to resume production but a statement from the UAW says the parties are still far apart on stipulations including holidays off, wage increases, and healthcare coverage.
