Judge grants injunction to Virginia teacher suspended for refusing to follow transgender pronoun ID policy
A Virginia teacher had his First Amendment rights violated when his school system suspended him for his stance on identifying transgender students.
That’s the ruling of a Loudon County judge who granted an injunction to Tanner Cross who had been suspended by the board of education for comments made at a recent meeting where he said using transgender pronouns to call on a student violated his religious beliefs.
The judge noted that Cross’ comments were protected and the school system failed to prove that the teacher created a disruption to daily operations.
“I’m a teacher, but I serve God first,” he said during his comments last month.
