The Search for Summer: Hawkins County girl missing for nearly one week

Volunteers from as far away as Alabama have converged on Beech Creek in Hawkins County as they search for five-year-old Summer Wells is near the one-week mark.

Crews from Tennessee are also headed to the region as the state Association of Rescue Squads placed an all-call for helpers over the weekend to assist workers who being challenged by the rugged terrain outside Rogersville.

So far, the TBI has gathered more than 130 tips but those have turned out to be fruitless in helping to find Summer who was last seen before 6:30 last Tuesday evening when she was in the backyard of her home planting flowers.

A threat of rain and storms could intensify search activities in the coming hours.
