Holston Army plant in Kingsport to self-clean steam facility Saturday

Officials with the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport and contractor BAE Systems are giving neighbors and residents a heads-up about some industrial operations this weekend.

The facility located in the Allendale area will be performing a one-time self-cleaning of their new gas-fired steam facility on Saturday from 9 am to 4 p.m.

The agencies said the work could create increased noise and produce visible condensation during those hours.

The new facility is part of BAE’s modernization effort coupled with energy savings and emissions control.
