UPDATE: Kingsport police release identity of person found dead near Rock Springs Road

The identity of the person found earlier this week near Rock Springs Road in Kingsport has been released by officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The body of Jonathan M. Powers, 42, was discovered in a wooded area in an abandoned rural residential property located off the 1600 block of that roadway on Wednesday.

Kingsport police reported that detectives are awaiting final forensic pathology reports that will disclose the cause of death.
