Woes continue for Pound, Virginia as town manager tenders resignation
The police force has been dissolved, its water and sewer operations are effectively being taken over by the county PSA, and now the town of Pound has to deal with a major resignation.
Town Manager Drew Mullins has informed council members of his impending resignation effective June 30 after just four months on the job.
The news is another setback for the Wise County locale which has been cited by state health officials for a leaky sewer plant that threatens a local watershed.
A representative from the Virginia Attorney General’s office told town leaders last month that consolidation with the county’s Public Service Authority would be needed otherwise possible criminal prosecution could take place along with millions in fines.
