Greeneville man charged with kidnapping, domestic assault

Police arrested a Greeneville man after an eyewitness told officers he saw him pulling a woman by her hair into the car he was driving.

A report from the town police department says Josiel Eduardo Tomas is charged with kidnapping, domestic assault, and evading arrest following the incident on Carolina Drive.

Investigators said Tomas, 26, drove away with the victim who was screaming for help and drove at high speeds to avoid patrolmen until he stopped the car at Maplecrest Drive and ran away in the woods where he was apprehended a short time later.

Police discovered Tomas had an active no-contact order in place at the time of his arrest.
