Police: Scuffle with officers triggers manhunt in St. Paul

Two Saint Paul, Virginia policemen were injured following a fight with a man suspected of stealing a vehicle.

Michael Pierre Rose, 37, is charged with two counts of assault on an officer, possession of stolen property, obstruction of justice, escape with force, and petty larceny.

Information from the St. Paul Police Department said Rose was confronted by the officers at Clinch View Apartments just before 8 pm Sunday night. He ran from the scene following the altercation resulting in assistance being called in by the Wise County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.

Rose returned to the complex early Monday morning where he was arrested.

The two policemen were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
