Monday Morning Shooting Leaves One In Critical Condition, One Arrested In Buchanan County
A Buchanan County man is in critical condition after an early Monday morning shooting in that county. 59 year old Tony Dean Cole of Pilgrims Knob was found by investigators with a gunshot wound to the head and was flown to a local hospital. During the investigation, evidence was discovered that lead law enforcement to secure a warrant for abduction by force on 44 year old James Cantrell of Pilgrims Knob. The victim of the abduction was an adult female that was at the residence when the shooting occurred. Following a search, Cantrell was located in a hotel in Tazewell County Virginia. Cantrell is held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail. Virginia State Police assisted Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation which is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
