Sports betting gross revenue hit the $1 billion mark in Virginia
Virginia Lottery officials announced sports betting gross revenue has hit the $1 billion plateau after just four full months of operation.
In the month of May, events like the NBA playoffs and the PGA Championship pushed wagers to more than $226 million for the 31-day period.
The lottery board reports 18 companies have filed for Virginia’s five remaining sportsbook licenses and has received 25 applications since the start of the year.
