TBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In Kingsport, Female Suspect Injured

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is now probing another officer involved shooting, this one occurring early Thursday morning in Kingsport. According to a press release from KPD, officers were called to the Westside Inn located at 1017 West Stone Drive in Kingsport around 5 twenty Thursday morning from a resident of the Inn who said a white female suspect was banging on his door and was armed with a a firearm. Officers encountered the suspect as she was brandishing a pistol and was presenting a clear and present threat to offices and neighboring residents in close proximity. After numerous commands to put the weapon away, officers were left with no choice but to neutralize the threat and one officer discharged his issued firearm, striking the woman. The unidentified female was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her injuries are unknown at this time. No officers or innocent citizens were injured in the shooting.
