UPDATE: Norton mother to serve jail time for death of 1-month-old boy

The mother found guilty for the involuntary manslaughter death of her infant son has been sentenced to three months in jail.

Court records say Sarah Bledsoe of Norton received the sentence in Wise County Circuit Court. She was found guilty in April in a trial evaluated by a judge and not a jury. The judge in the case suspended four years and nine months of her original 5-year sentence.

A police report said Bledsoe, 32, was reportedly under the influence of narcotics when she placed the 1-month-old boy in her bed in August of 2020. A medical report said the child’s airway became blocked while laying in the bed.
