No Traffic Deaths Reported In Southwest Virginia During Holiday Travel Period…Different Story Across The State

There’s some good news for Southwest Virginia concerning the recent extended Holiday travel period as Virginia State Police report no fatal accidents. . However, Virginia is experiencing a disturbing trend on its roadways with increased traffic crash fatalities. The agency reports there were ten deaths on Virginia highways during the four day period which ended on Monday. Since January 1, 2021, through July 7 indicates 399 lives have been lost to traffic crashes in the Commonwealth. That statistic is four more than in 2020 during the same period. Virginia State Police also reported 61 drunk drivers were arrested as well.
