State Building Commission has Nathan Bedford Forrest bust issue on July agenda
Four months have come and gone since the state Historical Commission voted 25 to 1 to remove the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust from the hall of the Tennessee capitol building.
Several lawmakers including Lt. Gov. Randy McNally opposed the move and vote and have argued that the proper vetting procedure to remove the statue must also go through the State Building Commission.
The black caucus of lawmakers in Nashville has publicly denounced having to walk past a marker dedicated to a former Ku Klux Klan member. The building commission has a Forrest bust item on their meeting agenda for July 22.
