Suspected gunman in Buchanan County shooting indicted by grand jury
A Buchanan County, Virginia shooting suspect captured at a Tazewell County motel last month has been indicted by a grand jury.
James Patrick Cantrell, 44, of Pilgrims Knob, is facing five charges including aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny, and animal cruelty.
The sheriff’s office reported last month that Cantrell reportedly abducted a female victim and then shot Tony Dean Cole, 59, at a home in Spruce Pine. At last report, Cole was being treated at a Lexington, Kentucky hospital for a gunshot to the head.
