Child safety clearinghouse helps Sullivan County identify child porn suspect

A Sullivan County man is charged with a child sex crime after sheriff’s office officials were clued into a social media from a national organization.

Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said they were alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April after they reported indecent images being uploaded to a Snapchat account assigned to 31-year-old Oscar Vega of Blountville.

Vega has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The sheriff says more charges are pending after Vega admitted to child porn activities online.
