Comptroller: Homeless help agency bilked out of more than $100,000
The executive of a local organization charged to help the homeless pocketed more than $100,000 by falsifying records and awarding construction jobs to her husband.
Those are some of the findings of the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office in an investigation into the Appalachian Regional Coalition on Homelessness and director Julie Beale who has been indicted on criminal charges by a grand jury.
Federal dollars used to fund the office were spent on personal items, to pay bills, and pay Sam Beale for jobs he did not perform.
