Safety for players leads to end of Kingsport Axmen’s season
The owners of the Kingsport Axmen baseball club have announced a former player is now receiving medical help after threatening fellow players on social media.
Boyd Sports issued the update on 21-year-old Matthew Taylor who was arrested after investigators were presented with Snapchat messages Taylor had written after he was released from the team.
The organization also reported the joint decision with USA Baseball and Major League Baseball to cancel the remainder of the Axmen’s season for safety reasons. Those players will be matched with other teams if requested.
Boyd Sports noted that a traveling team will be assembled to help maintain the Appalachian League schedule for the remainder of the season.
