Wise County Man Sentenced For Defrauding Government Over Pandemic Unemployment Benefits

A Wise County, Virginia man, who conspired with others to file for fraudulent pandemic unemployment benefits, is sentenced to a seven year prison term for conspiring to defraud the United States and conspiring to commit mail fraud. 34 year old Travis Kilgore, defrauded the government of more than 182 thousand dollars in pandemic unemployment benefits. Kilgore was also ordered to pay 164 thousand 470 dollars in restitution. Kilgore and his wife came up with the scheme of filing false claims for approximately 21 individuals, costing the government more than 182 thousand dollars for false claims that were paid.
