Deputy Recovering. Teen Dead In Wise County Officer Involved Shooting

A sixteen year old male juvenile is dead, and a Wise County Sheriff’s Deputy is seriously wounded as the investigation into a weekend officer involved shooting in Wise County continues. The shooting occurred off Dunbar and Pine Branch Road near Appalachia. Deputies were already searching for two missing juveniles. A Sheriff’s Deputy located a vehicle parked in some bushes with a sixteen year old male and a thirteen year old female inside. The deputy directed the male to exit the vehicle at that point an altercation took place. The male juvenile stabbed the deputy multiple times and that’s when the deputy fired his service revolver striking the teen, who died at the seen. The thirteen year old female was uninjured. Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations is heading up the probe.
