Former Carter County Head Start official indicted for theft
A former Head Start official in Carter County has been indicted by a grand jury on one charge of theft over $2,500.
Investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office presented evidence to the jury from their review of administrative assistant Joyce Parsons who was fired from the agency last April.
The evidence showed Parsons used Head Start credit cards for more than $8,600 in personal purchases for such things as clothing and cosmetics and used the names of co-workers to hide her transactions.
Comptroller officials are also reviewing disbursements of over $6,000 for things like trips, car rentals, and food without proper documentation.
