Newport Man Charged With Sixth DUI Offense After Incident In Johnson City
A Newport Tennessee man will appear in court Monday after an incident in downtown Johnson City that results in the suspects six DUI offense. Johnson City Police say Steven C. Edwards was driving in the downtown area, when at least four calls to 911 were made due to reckless driving before Edwards passed out behind the wheel in the median of West Market Street. Through the course of the investigation it was determined, Edwards was driving his vehicle while under the influence. Officers also revealed it was Edwards third offense for driving on a revoked license. Edwards refused to consent to a blood alcohol test a violation of implied consent . Edwards is being held without bond while he awaits his Monday Preliminary Hearing in Washington County General Sessions Court.
