Greeneville Man Arrested After Being Intoxicated And Fighting Police
A Greeneville man is arrested after police confront him for public intoxication after the suspect refuses to cooperate with authorities. Matthew D. Waddell was seen looking into cars at the General Morgan Inn. Police arrived on an original simple assault complaint. Upon arrival, police noticed Waddell was under the influence of an intoxicant. He refused to identify himself to police and showed several signs of pre assault indicators. While attempting to arrest Waddell for his safety and the public’s Waddell tensed up, pulled away and struck the officer in the jaw. At that point, a fight between the officer and Waddell occurred . Eventually Waddell was taken to the ground with the use of a taser.. After searching Waddell, authorities discovered he was armed with a large knife located in his pocket. The Greeneville Police officer received medical attention for treatment of lacerations and a contusion to the face and head.
