TN tax-free weekend kicks off
Tennessee’s annual sales tax holiday on clothes, school supplies, computers, and even food began on Friday. This holiday excludes sales tax on numerous goods, yet some restrictions still apply. Clothing, school supplies, and computers will be sales tax-free from now until Sunday. Tax-exempt clothing includes apparel that costs one hundred dollars or less per item. According to TN.gov, Jewelry, handbags, and sports equipment are not included. Only computers with a purchase price of $1500 dollars or less are tax-exempt this weekend. Prepared food and food ingredients are sales tax-exempt from now to Thursday, August 5th. Food that qualifies for tax-exemption includes grocery items, prepared food by restaurants and food trucks, and catering. Alcohol and tobacco products are not included in this tax-free holiday.
