Delta Variant Spreading Faster Than Previous Strains In Southwest Virginia
The Director of a southwest Virginia Health District is advising those who are exposed to someone with COVID symptoms to get tested regardless of your vaccination status. Dr. Karen Shelton, with The Mount Rogers Health District in Southwest Virginia is reporting what many other health agencies in the region are reporting…an increase in cases, and hospitalizations as the Delta Variant of COVID-19 spreads in southwest Virginia. Shelton says in a release on Wednesday, the Delta Variant is in Southwest Virginia and is spreading faster than previous strains. The Delta Variant is more transmissible and causes more serious outcomes. Cases among children and teens are increasing at an alarming rate, as are pediatric hospitalizations.
