VA Lawmakers Looking At Ways To Spend More Than Four Billion Dollars
Southwest Virginia lawmakers along with the others from across the Commonwealth continue working in a special called session of the General Assembly as they plow through Governor Ralph Northam’s proposed budget that calls for spending most of Virginia’s four point three billion dollar share of American Rescue Plan Funding. Northam’s plan calls for spending the money on initiatives like increasing broadband access, supporting small business land tourism, improving air quality in public schools, boosting mental health and substance treatment and backfilling the state’s unemployment trust fund.
