Rate increase for Appalachian Power customers in West Virginia approved, Virginia still to decide
West Virginia regulatory officials have approved the continued operation of two coal-fired power generation plants through the year 2040.
Appalachian Power is the owner of the facilities and has requested electric bill rates increases for customers to cover the cost of the construction upgrades at those locations.
Virginia’s State Corporation Commission will consider the rate request in the commonwealth due to the state’s use of resources from those West Virginia plants.
