UPDATE: Northam gets General Assembly to approve $4 billion spending plan for pandemic rescue funding
Governor Northam praised lawmakers for passing his proposed plan for more than $4 billion in federal pandemic rescue funding.
The plan includes pay raises and bonuses for law enforcement, replenishing the unemployment fund, staffing and capital improvements within the state’s mental health care system, and $700 million to fund last-mile Internet installation in Southwest Virginia.
Northam also touted a $2.6 billion budget surplus on top of the emergency dollars sent by Congress.
