Volunteer High Tries To Get First Official Day Underway Again, After Yesterday’s Hoax And Lockdown
Students at Volunteer High School will try again today to get the first official day of school under their belt, after yesterdays nerve wracking disruption due to what authorities now say was a hoax that an active shooter was on the Volunteer campus. That led to a school wide lock down of Volunteer High School and several other surrounding Hawkins County Schools. Sheriff Ronnie Lawson says no active shooter was found, there were no signs of a weapon and no injuries to any student or faculty. One student was being treated by emergency personnel after falling ill at the time of the incident. Lawson says there will be an increased presence of officers at Volunteer and it will be safe to hold classes.
