North Carolina lawmakers propose $20M to help North Wilkesboro Speedway owned by Bristol’s Speedway Motorsports
The parent company of Bristol Motor Speedway stands to receive millions of dollars from the North Carolina legislature for their plans to rev new life into historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.
House members adjusted a proposal made by Governor Cooper earlier this year and approved a budget measure that would allocate $20 million for North Wilkesboro along with improvement dollars for Charlotte and Rockingham speedways.
Speedway Motorsports is Wilkesboro’s owner and has joined a revival campaign that includes Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to reopen the track for weekly competition and possibly a return by the NASCAR Cup Series.
