Fire destroys Greene County church

A Greene County congregation will have the unfortunate task of rebuilding after a fire Tuesday afternoon gutted a majority of the structure.

The Riverview Community Seventh-day Adventist Church was rendered as a complete loss from a blaze that is still under investigation although preliminary reviews show the fire may have started in the attic.

The arrival of an afternoon storm could also play into the investigation as several eyewitnesses reported numerous lightning strikes prior to the fire being reported on Sanford Circle.
