TN Department of Education announces high school seniors can retake ACT for free
The Tennessee Department of Education announced that current high school seniors can retake the ACT test for free. This free retake opportunity is a chance for outgoing high-schoolers to improve their score. ACT scores are heavily used in consideration for college acceptance as well as scholarships. According to the TN Department of Education, the state is the first and only so far to offer this opportunity to high school seniors. A recent study found that nation-wide ACT scores declined last year due to the pandemic. This free retake period will give Tennessee high school seniors a chance to raise their initial score, which reflects the hardships endured within the past year. The free retake dates fall into multiple windows: October 5-7, 19-21; and November 2-4. Students should contact their schools to set up a free ACT retake.
