Kingsport Police To Begin Operating Under COVID Safety Protocols

Due to the resurgence of COVID 19, beginning Monday September 6 the Kingsport Police Department is temporarily reinstating safety protocols to lessen the chance of exposure to the virus. Some of those protocols include, assistance will be given by police via phone when the call is extremely minor or civil in nature. Officers are encouraged to maintain safe social distancing from citizens whenever possible, and officers will be strongly discouraged from entering private residences or businesses unless absolutely necessary. The changes are similar to ones the department operated under during the peak of the pandemic in the Spring of 2020. The safety protocols will remain in effect until positive cases of the virus significantly decline.
