Southwest Virginia Health District, Now Offering Flu Vaccinations
The region continues to struggle in the battle against the COVID19 virus. And many still have not received the COVID vaccine. But that’s not stopping Southwest Virginia’s Mt Rogers Health District from encouraging and offering flu vaccines at all of its local health departments. The department says reducing flue cases in the area will decrease outpatient illness, hospitalizations and intensive care unit admissions and helps protect the local and regional healthcare systems. Flu season usually hit around December and January and can take about two weeks for the vaccination to provide protection, so its important to get the shot early. Mount Rogers serves seven counties in Southwest Virginia and the City of Bristol.
