158th Anniversary Battle of Blountville Civil War reenactment happening this weekend
This Wednesday marks the 158th Anniversary of the Civil War battle in Blountville. The Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism is hosting a battle reenactment for the public this weekend. This annual event is held on the 60-acre Old Hawley Farm and features dozens of actors dressed in traditional clothing, living out the events of this battle. Organizers say this year’s reenactment will be bigger than ever– with additional cannons and actors to largely increase the scale of the battle. Admission is three dollars per person, children age 6 and under receive free admission. The main battle reenactment will take place at 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday, with other activities going on throughout the weekend.
