Students, faculty at two area school grieving after the death of teachers

Two area school systems have brought counselors on-site to help students and fellow faculty grieve the loss of two educators.

A private burial is being held for Kristi J. Davenport, 48, an art and English teacher for several years at Hampton Elementary who reportedly passed away less than two weeks after testing positive for COVID.

And in Bristol, Tennessee, still reeling from the drowning death of THS junior Micah Montgomery and coaching legend Dale Burns, the school’s football program announced the death of defensive assistant coach Trea Leonard—a 1992 Viking graduate and Bristol Middle School teacher.
