Carter County Has New Commission Leaderhship. Holdren Elected Chairperson

Following a reorganizational meeting in Carter County this week, commissioners have elected a new chairperson to lead the commission. Ginger Holdren was elected in a contest with Travis Hill, the chairman for this past year. Holdren represents the 5th district, that includes the Happy Valley precinct. Commissioners also took time to honor a Carter County legend. Charlie Bayless, served 54 years on the commission, one of the longest serving members. He was also pretty good at coaching basketball. Bayless coached the Happy Valley Warriors basketball team from1953 to 2012. Bayless won 964 games, including a state championship. Bayless is 98, but could not attend as family members accepted the proclamation for Bayless.
