Two Southwest Virginia Schools Receive National Recognition

This year, across the country there were only 325 public schools that received a National Blue Ribbon School award for academic excellence, and two of those 325 schools are located in Southwest Virginia. Elydale Middle School in Lee County and Greendale Elementary School in Abingdon received the Blue Ribbon recognition for demonstrating academic excellence and for reducing achievement gaps between student groups. The award is presented by the United States Department of Education.
