Winners announced for Kingsport’s Storm Drain Art Contest; painting begins this week

Kingsport Public Works announced the winners of their storm drain art contest. Participants created illustrations that raise awareness of polluted storm-water flowing from drains into natural bodies of water. This year’s winners are Alexandra Sheffey, Ashley Roberts, Brenda Barkley, Joel Hammitt, and Kaylee Osborne. The five winners receive one hundred dollars and will paint their illustrations on storm drains around Kingsport. Painting begins this week and will finish in the next month as time and weather allow. People can follow the progress of the storm drain art on Kingsport Public Works social media pages.
