Blountville Man Killed When Struck By Vehicle While Crossing 394

A Blountville man is dead after he was hit by an oncoming vehicle while attempting to cross a busy Blountville highway. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 73 year old Herbert Bates was crossing Highway 394 at the intersection of Big Hollow Road Thursday afternoon when he was struck by a 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by a female driver identified as 73 year old Johnnie Freeman, also of Blountville. The crash remains under investigation by the THP, no criminal charges have been filed.
